A Dying Rose

I try in vain
To savor its sweet smell
This fragment of Eden
The essence of lover’s tales.
Something went wrong
As it’s petals crack and dry,
I’m desperate to save it,
Almost anything I would try
What’s done is done
A fate cruel in kind,
It’s lost its glow
Burdened,
By hands of time
An ice in my heart
Like a winter’s cold snow.
As I try in vain
To save a dying rose…
